the origin
We first met studying at ESCP Business School, where we discovered a shared passion for entrepreneurship. While visiting Berlin, we found ourselves running around the city, Clubmate's in hand, searching for a bench to sit on — with no way to locate one. That sparked an idea, and The Bench App was born.
the problem
Cities are full of benches. Yet no one knows where they are. All across Europe, tens of thousands of public benches sit unmapped and unknown. There's no way to quickly find one.
We are the most connected generation in history, yet the loneliest. Social media and dating apps promised connection, but delivered followers, filters, and small talk. Young people today are drowning in digital noise, yet starving for real human connection.
our solution
The Bench App is the easiest way to find public benches near you. Quickly find a place to rest, eat, breathe, and simply exist in the city.
But it's also something more: a new way to meet real people. One that's old as time. No filters. No profiles. Just a bench, fresh air, and whoever sits down next to you.
how it works
01 discover — a clean, live map centred on you. Find public benches nearby and filter for exactly what you need — cover when it's raining, backrests for extra support, or a view worth sharing.
02 explore — rate benches on views, comfort, and vibe. Save your favourites, build your collection, and discover new spots that change your daily route. Can't find a bench? Submit it yourself with a photo.
03 connect — once a day, select benches go live as Social Benches — your signal to sit down and say hello to whoever's there. Feeling bold? Hit the Spontaneous Button and let nearby users know you're open to a conversation.
